The Jewish Wedding Gallery: Escorting the Bride to the Chuppah

The bride, from the Williamsburg community of Chassidic Jews in New York, is escorted to the chuppah by her counterparts of the groom’s unterfuehrers. Her escorts, like the groom’s, carry braided candles. Because braided candles are also burned at the havdalah ceremony which marks the end of the Sabbath at sundown Saturday, we know this wedding took place at the end of Sabbath.
